Photographing newborns is not as easy as it looks. It requires lots of patience, technique, and experience. When you add siblings to the mix things can get a bit tricky, but I am always up for a challenge! Kids are so unpredictable and I was ready with my bag of tricks when big brother walked into the studio. Turns out I didn't need them. He was so calm and sweet with his baby sister. This is definitely not the norm, so don't feel bad if your older children were not as cooperative. Here's some advice I give my parents before a session with kids, don't worry about them acting crazy and just come to turns with the fact that they most definitely will. Ha! Keep expectations low and you never know, they just may surprise you!

6-9 month portraits are one of my favorites! This is when a baby's personality is really starting to shine through! I love all of the faces they make from laughing, surprised, confused, even the pouty faces. This little man didn't have any of those faces though, he was all smiles!

Is there anything more beautiful then an expecting mama? I was blown away at how beautiful Ronni looked in all three maternity gowns. Her physical beauty is nothing compared to her inner beauty though. In the brief time I spent with this couple it was obvious that their hearts are filled with so much love and kindness. They are truly an inspirational couple!

I absolutely love the simplicity of this session! I tend to be a minimalist when it comes to portraits. Just a few little touches here and there, but ultimately keeping it simple keeps all of your focus on the most important part of the photo. The baby! The past 7 months have been challenging to say the least. It feels like there are 72 hours in a day (and not because I am kicking butt and getting so much accomplished). Most days if I had a fast forward button to June I would press it without hesitation. But when I take a moment, block out the chaos and dig down (way down) I see so clearly that my family is exactly where we need to be right now. There is a reason why events are unfolding as the are. Apartment 304 has been schooling me and tossing out a serious dose of tough love. My eyes were blind to a lot of things and ironically apartment 304 has been the light.
