High School Senior Portraits at Maymont Park in Richmond, Virginia | Chesterfield Photographer
Some sessions feel like they were planned by the season itself, and this one was exactly that. Late summer light, gardens overflowing with purple verbena and golden black-eyed Susans, and a senior who brought an easy, genuine warmth to every frame. Rosemary''s session was a reminder of why I love photographing seniors in Chesterfield, Virginia and the surrounding area: the setting and the personality came together effortlessly.
She chose a romantic white dress with delicate blue floral embroidery, and it couldn't have been more perfect for the location. Soft, flowing, and a little vintage, it echoed the blooms all around us and gave every image a timeless, storybook feel.
We started among the wildflowers, tucking in close so the purple and yellow blossoms framed her in soft color. That over-the-shoulder smile surrounded by petals is one of my favorite images from the entire evening. From there we moved beneath the columned pergola, where the long lines and filtered shade created a calm, classic backdrop for a simple, heartfelt portrait.
As the sun dropped lower, the golden hour glow took over. Backlit hair, sparkling light through the greenery, and a quiet glance over her shoulder gave us some of the dreamiest images of the night. We finished on a wrought-iron garden bench with a small bouquet of hydrangea and sweet William, a sweet detail that tied the whole session together.
At Sarah Kane Photography, my goal for every senior session is to create portraits that feel natural, relaxed, and completely true to who you are right now, at this exciting moment before the next chapter begins. Gardens like this one are a favorite for Chesterfield Virginia seniors because they offer so much variety in a single session: color, texture, architecture, and that gorgeous evening light.
