When this gorgeous mama reached out to Sarah Kane Photography to document her pregnancy, we knew we wanted something magical, and The Carillon in Richmond, Virginia delivered in every way. With its sweeping stone walls, open meadow paths, and golden hour light filtering through the freshly spring trees, it’s one of the most stunning outdoor locations in the Richmond area, and it absolutely stole the show.
It was absolutely freezing during this maternity session in Powhatan, Virginia. The wind was fierce and seemed to cut right through you, no matter how many layers you wore. I was bundled up and still felt the cold, so I can’t even imagine how this mama-to-be felt standing out there with grace and patience. Despite the frigid temperatures, this couple showed up with smiles and warmth, handling the cold like absolute champs.
When this mama to be arrived in her stunning crimson off the shoulder gown, we knew the evening was going to be something special. We spent golden hour moving between two of Richmond’s most beautiful backdrops — the grand stone steps and sweeping architecture of The Carillon in Byrd Park and the beautiful tree lined paths nearby — and the results speak for themselves.
