Another gorgeous maternity session in the great RVA and a morning spent with two very lovely and sweet mamas-to-be! Sarah & Coby are expecting their first baby girl in September and it was such an honor to photograph this very special time in their lives! Their little girl is so fortunate that she will be brought into a family of such love. She will also most likely be spoiled beyond her wildest dreams seeing as she is the first grandchild on Sarah's side of the family and a granddaughter at that. Good luck Sarah & Coby ;)

This particular session with these soon-to-be first time parents (which is pretty darn exciting all on it’s own) was even more special because Jennifer & Mohamed recently purchased their first home together (and when I say recently I mean they just moved in 2 weeks ago) and guess what? I was their very first guest!!!

Another beautiful maternity session coming to you from Midlothian!! This is a new location for me and it happens to be right down the street! I can walk to this park in less than 3 minutes. My family and I often walk here to fly airplanes, remote control bats, shoot off nerf rockets and other cool toys that require a lot of open space. I never really thought to have a photo shoot here!

I love everything about my job and am always asked what is my favorite type of photography and honestly that's really difficult for me to answer. Every session is so different from families to weddings, newborns to maternity. There is so much I love about all of them, but if I was forced to make a decision I think I would have to say maternity photography may be my favorite! When you're pregnant it feels like you will be carrying that baby forever (that's how I felt anyway) and that your body will never be your own again. After your last baby is born though and starts to grow older you realize what a short time 9 months really is.

It's hard to believe that I am entering my 4th year in the photography business. It all began with a passion, lots of encouragement and a big dream. So many people supported and believed in me, so I mustered up the courage and headed to the circuit courts, filed for a business license, got a website and boom, I was an official business. That's all it took, easy right? I wish it were that simple and easy, but I'll save that journey for another blog post.

Cold, rain and now wind!?! This has been one crazy spring in the great RVA which makes outdoor photography a little tricky, but nothing I can't handle! The day of Kyle's maternity session was beautiful. No rain, not too hot, not too cold, one might say it would have been the perfect day for a maternity session if it wasn't for the darn wind! Holy Cow, it was blowing pretty fierce and being along the reservoir made it that much worse!

Want to kick the winter blues? How about a snowy white maternity session in Richmond Va with a funny, outgoing and radiant soon- to-be mama of two? It was Monday night and I was lying like a slug on the couch mentally preparing myself for the "huge" snow storm that would surely be bringing at least 5 inches of snow shutting down schools for the entire week. That's when I came across a post, in one of the many photography pages I follow, asking if anyone wanted to play in the snow with a 35 week pregnant lady whom you've never met. Um, yes please! What? So happy to share this maternity session with you all! I love maternity shoots because as I've mentioned before there's nothing more beautiful than an expecting mother! I can say that now that I'm not pregnant, but when I was I probably would have popped someone in the nose for saying that to me! Kristin is no exception! I am excited not only because it's a maternity session but also because Kristin is my neighbor. When she asked me to take a few maternity pictures of her and her adorable daughter Courtney I was more than willing, on one condition, she let me test out my new vintage couch before using it to photograph a 6-month-old baby!
