This newborn session took place in my cozy studio here in Chesterfield, just outside Richmond and a short drive from Petersburg. Studio newborn sessions are designed to feel calm, warm, and unhurried—everything is set up to keep baby comfortable while creating soft, timeless images.
There’s something extra special about a maternity session when it includes a soon-to-be big sister. This beautiful mama and her daughter came into my Chesterfield, Virginia studio (just outside of Richmond) for a maternity session filled with laughter, love, and connection.
Photographing newborn twins is a beautiful blend of patience, flexibility, and thoughtful planning, and this session with twin brothers was a perfect example of that balance.
This newborn session took place in Sarah Kane Photography’s studio in Chesterfield, Virginia, located not far from Mechanicsville. The studio is designed to support newborn led posing, which is especially important when photographing twins. Each baby has their own rhythm, and sessions are paced to allow for feeding, soothing, and moments of rest as needed.
It was absolutely freezing during this maternity session in Powhatan, Virginia. The wind was fierce and seemed to cut right through you, no matter how many layers you wore. I was bundled up and still felt the cold, so I can’t even imagine how this mama-to-be felt standing out there with grace and patience. Despite the frigid temperatures, this couple showed up with smiles and warmth, handling the cold like absolute champs.
